The Point
This weekend I had the honor of spending time at The Point Retreats in Pequot Lakes with some other amazing Minnesota creatives. I was honestly terrified to attend this retreat. I felt like I wasn’t good enough to be a part of this group. My personality, as bright and spicy as it can be often doesn’t show the first time I meet new people, but guess what? I didn’t let that stop me from going. I learned SO much from this group of women. I may be quiet and reserved, but all I can say is that I am in awe of the creative ability of this group of amazing women. The luxury of this space and the amenities it was hard not to just be in awe of the beauty. The whole time I couldn’t stop this mental list of take-aways from the others and things I can’t wait to share with all of you.
My new friend Susan from This Big Wild World and I shared the Bertha cabin. The “smallest” and most rustic of the three cabins on the property. It was honestly breathtaking. The views of the lake, the floor to ceiling wood paneling, the vintage kitchenette, and my true favorite the mustard colored Jacuzzi tub. I am a sucker for wood paneling and truly felt so at home and inspired by this space. It was pure bliss to sit in my bed each night and just write. The peace and solitude that surrounds this property is undeniable.
The main lodge. When I entered the gigantic front door the first time it honestly took my breath away. This cabin is almost 7,000 sq/ft. It has a gigantic Tuscan inspired professional grade kitchen, two large living areas, multiple bedrooms, and nooks to escape.
We were honored to have been gifted with some Whistler Whiskey and our signature cocktail of the weekend was a Sparkling Cranberry Spritz.
1 oz Cranberry Simple Syrup
2oz Whistler Honey Whiskey
2oz Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
2 oz Club Soda
Cranberry and Rosemary for garnish.
It was very delicious and refreshing. It would be perfect for a holiday brunch.
Saturday we had a Creators Brunch styled by the lovely AFA Event Styling. There honestly wasn’t a detail that was overlooked this entire weekend. Every small detail was thought out and intentional. AFA styling is a family run small business that provides complete tablescapes, centerpieces, and decor for events both big and small. They are incredibly affordable and local to the Twin Cities.
The Point is also host to three saunas and a cold plunge pool. There is an outdoor cedar sauna and two indoor infrared saunas. The sauna and cold plunge felt heavenly after a workout in the gym that is hosted by Anytime Fitness. It was honestly so cool. Kat from KatTellsAll led us through a workout then we ran to detox in the sauna.
I was very hesitant to do the cold plunge, but there came a point while we were all sitting in the sauna where I thought “what do I have to lose?” and I did it and it was honestly so refreshing (once I got over the initial shock). Then it was back in the sauna for a few minutes to get warm again.
Minnetonka was a staple on this trip as well. I mean you can’t get much more “up North” than that.
Reflecting on this weekend I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to spend time with this amazing group. We are all so very different and all in different stages of blogging/influencing. I am more reserved in new groups, so being with this many new people was a bit overwhelming to say the least, but listening to what they all had to say was incredible. Sharing the business side of things that no one really ever has the opportunity to talk about. Comparing notes, successes, failures, and really thinking about what direction to go from here. I never anticipated having conversations about engagement, camera bodies, or sharing meals with those who inspire me on the daily in my feed.
We wrapped up the weekend at MN Traders Co in Pequot Lakes. Wow. To have such a luxurious co-working space and restaurant in the area really is impressive. The space is so beautifully crafted and unique it was the perfect way to wind down and wrap up the weekend. I highly recommend the North of the Border latte (decaf with oat milk) and the Parfait with Chia pudding in place of yogurt.
This trip was so much more than just a weekend away with other creatives. It showed me that there’s so much more to this “business” than pretty photographs and connections. These women are so incredibly strong, creative, and resilient. I was honored to share the room with them. It was a truly once in a lifetime opportunity and it really showed me how much I love this little side hustle of mine and how much more I can do with it.
