Cookie Day 2020

What a weekend! Do you ever have one of those weekends and it just feels good. It makes your heart so happy and full? I am ready to shout it from the rooftops that I had one of those weekends this past weekend and it was way overdue.

I remember as a kid my mom used to get together with friends before Christmas and they would make tons and tons of cookies to make trays to give to neighbors. So a few weeks ago I messaged Kenz and Brooke and proposed the idea. It didn't take much convincing to get them to be in! Brooke made the trek down and we had ourselves a great weekend full of sugar.

We made sugar cookies, ginger snaps, kiss cookies, rolo pretzels, and peppermint brownies. The number of smiles and laughs that we had over that 36 hours was priceless. We filled trays to share with friends, family, and coworkers.

We indulged in peppermint cocoa blizzards from DQ and Chad drove us to see a ton of cool Christmas light displays.

We did this cool tour of Adelaide Landing in Hugo. If you are local you should absolutely go check it out!

Here's a map and some info from their facebook page (linked here)!

Looking for something fun and safe to do during lock-down? Drive through Adelaide Landing (North east corner of Hwy 61 and 130th St N) where we have 27 houses that will be lit up starting Friday at 4:30pm-10:00pm daily through New Year’s. Each house has a sign in front with a QR code (see photo below for an example). When you’re in front of the house, guess the theme (every house has a theme based on a Christmas tune or Christmas Movie). After you’ve guessed, scan the QR code with the camera on your phone (click the link that pops up when you point the camera at the sign) to find out the answer and to answer a Christmas trivia question.

At the bottom of each QR Code page is a link to make a monetary donation to the Hugo Good Neighbors Food Shelf to help a local family in need this holiday season. Note: We will not be collecting food items along the light route due to risk of exposure and freezing.

Then we went to Stillwater to see the all of the great work done by the chamber to light up the bridge. WOW. It was spectacular. They have done a truly wonderful job.

Then we concluded the evening with a bonfire at the house. It was so long overdue to just have a weekend. It was a ton of work don't get me wrong, but the conversations and the laughs shared between friends. It keeps the heart full. There is so much dragging us down right now why don't we take time to fill our cups?

Sunday Brooke, Koda, and I did a long walk at William O'Brien State Park to cap off the weekend. It was great to soak up some more of this amazing weather we've been having. I don't know the last December I can remember that I have worn just one pair of legging and tennis shoes on a hike. It was glorious. There's just something about the crisp air and the rosy red cheeks you have after a few miles outside.

All in all it was a wonderful time and so long overdue! We are already planning our next adventure together and I can't wait.

Heads up and hearts full everyone! We can do this! Only a few more weeks until a fresh start.

XO,
